These are just some of the women that make up Ser Mujer. We’re young and not so young, Mexican and not so Mexican. One thing for sure - we are all committed to social justice, equal opportunity and elimination of violence.

Who We Are

Diana Amaya

​Suzanne Bacon

Industrial Designer who studied at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and specialized in Packaging Engineering. She worked in the Auto and Pharmaceutical Industry for seven years and currently works for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in San Miguel de Allende. 
Is a wife, daughter, sister, friend and companion. She is committed to social change in México and Director of a foundation and volunteers for other NGOs. She is a psychologist who works with children, youth and families.
​Suzanne left the corporate world to live in Mexico. She spends her time traveling, volunteering at Los Ricos and participating with Ser Mujer.

Glenna Copeland

​Sandy Delgado

​Has worked in human services with an emphasis on education and career development. She has worked with people of all ages in special education, state government and at the university level. She is the lead film reviewer for Ser Mujer.
Is a Mexican lawyer who has worked for more than 25 years on the defense of human rights of persons in armed conflict and the protection of refugees in several countries. Her work has had a particular focus on the protection of women and children. In San Miguel de Allende, she is an adviser to the Refugee Relief Project.​​​
Sandra Delgado Jiménez is a clinical psychologist. Originally from Tampico, she has been living in San Miguel for 13 years.  For four years, she hosted a local television show on psychology and has worked with the Instituto de Mujeres and the Red Cross as a counselor.

Mary Pat McNeil

​A Canadian who has lived in Mexico for 13 years (between San Miguel and Oaxaca). Her background in advertising, broadcasting, and communication led her to web design in her retirement. She designed and maintains the Ser Mujer website.
Was born in Mexico City but moved to San Miguel de Allende fifteen years ago. She loves poetry, art, music, gastronomy and hauteur cinema. She works for the Center for Global Justice and as a teacher at Instituto Sanmiguelense. ​​​
Mary Pat is the MP in MP+G Marketing Solutions – a virtual agency with a focus on doing good work for good causes - especially educational and environmental non-profits - helping them succeed in their mission to make the world a better place. Mary Pat is a passionate, on-trend, brand and content strategist. 

Ana Paula Martinez

Ana Paula Martinez is from Matamoras, Mexico and has lived in San Miguel for three years. She is the manager of O'Rourke and Associates investment company and is the newest member of Ser Mujer.
Dulce Ortiz has her master’s in legal and forensic psychology. Her 14 years of community work have been dedicated to the prevention of violence towards women.  She currently works with high school students under the Department of Education in 5 municipalities with school and gender violence prevention and intervention.
​Has produced the “Legendary Fiesta,” a multi-media party for the San Miguel de Allende Writers Conference for seven years. A long time advocate for women's empowerment, she is a freelance writer and has traveled around the world, managing kitchens in retreat centers.​

Trish Snyder

Laura Ulloa

Katie Van Doren

Is a former social worker and fund raiser. She is one of the founders of Ser Mujer and has worked as a volunteer with domestic violence survivors, indigenous midwife students, and teaching English as a second language since moving to San Miguel de Allende.​​​
Laura Ulloa is an educator and counselor.  She is a member of Educación Colaborativa, a group that promotes social and environmental projects.  She is also a supporter of the Zapatistas and the Concejo Indígena de Gobierno.  ​​
Artist and art therapist, Katie organized the photographic exhibit El Día Sin Mujeres to speak out about the abuses of femicides of women. A native of Oregon, Katie lives full time with her husband and two daughters in San Miguel.
